Permanent Resident - Investor
Investors: Eligibility
- Business Experience: More than two years of Qualifying Business
- Availability to make an Investment: $400,000 CDN
- Demonstration of your financial self sufficiency: Enough means to support yourself and family after you arrive in Canada.
- Medical and security requirement: You must pass a medical examination and security and criminal checks as required by CIC.
Qualifying Business: Conditions
To be qualified as a business as a investor you must have a experience in a business other than a business operated primarily for the purpose of deriving investment income such as interest, dividends or capital gains .
To demonstrate that your business is a qualifying business, you need to provide documents showing any two of the following:
- The percentage of equity multiplied by the number of full-time job equivalents is equal to or greater than two full-time job equivalents per year;
- the percentage of equity multiplied by the total annual sales is equal to or greater than $500,000;
- the percentage of equity multiplied by the net income in the year is equal to or greater than $50,000; and
- the percentage of equity multiplied by the net assets at the end of the year is equal to or greater than $125,000.
Required Business Experience
Once your business is qualified, you need to demonstrate that you have a minimum of two years of experience consisting of
- two one-year periods of experience in the management of a qualifying business and the control of a percentage of equity of the qualifying business during the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa and ending on the day a decision is made on the application; or
- two one-year periods of experience in the management of at least five full-time job equivalents per year in a business during the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa and ending on the day a decision is made on the application, or
- a combination of a one-year period of experience described in subparagraph (a) and a one-year period of experience described in subparagraph (b).
